Wirebird is definitely a woodpecker. The fanart posted by the OP managed to miss an important part of it's design - the cross shaped feet, which are only found on woodpeckers and parrots.

Owls definitely live in Hawaii. Lots of feral cats, too. Pretty sure it has sea lions but I can't be absolutely certain without looking it up, marine mammals are not my area of expertise.

There aren't any designs I actively dislike yet, and Solgaleo is my new favorite legendary. Like holy fuck, I love that design so fucking much.
I'm fighting the hype because I've been hurt before, but I think it might be a losing battle.
Solgaleo > Rowlet > Popplio > Lunaala > Litten = bird > Magearna
Magearna is the only one I dislike so far.
litten's the instant favorite for me. i just like his face, it's just so different from most starters. i picture him as a french explosives expert cursing to himself while placing explosives and laughing maniacally before accidentally lighting himself on fire.
rowlett is the safe one. there's nothing i dislike about the guy, but he's not extraordinary either. depending on final evo's i may still choose him.
lion legendary i found amazing at first, but the more i look at the moon legendary the more i lean towards it instead.
the bird is meh.
the robo-fairy is meh
popplio doesn't appeal to me much, mostly because of the clown theme. i'm curious to see where his evolutions go, but i can't imagine it'll be anywhere that great.

Rowlet and Litten are great, both look fun. The regional birds tend to evolve into something good enough, so I'm sure it'll be alright.
Popplio is to be desired, but I wont write it off yet.
The legendaries are where theres a harsh drop off for me.
Solaleo is a bit gaudy, like Palkia and Dialga, but it's a cool shape and a lion. Not my favorite, but its got strong points.
I think Magearna and Lunaala look like absolute dogshit though. Lunaala's the first time I legitmately dislike a box pokemon, looks just.. forced as fuck.
Magearna is more waifu bullshit, just looks awkward and dumb.
