If you mean a rotation system, it's a perfectly valid game design choice that combats power creep on top of a slew of other benefits. Without it, you end up with a system like YGO, where a subjective banlist can affect your wallet a lot more.

The general rule of thumb is that cards from packs that are obtained via codes and tournaments are unlocked while cards from packs that are obtained via other means are trade-locked to your account.

Legend cards aren't in the normal rotation anymore and idk what you mean by OP, but some decks (mainly M Manectric EX) use megas, and most decks in standard use EX cards

hoopa is a staple for almost all decks that run EX mons, you don't use it for attacking, just as a "tech", or pokemon you use because of its ability.

You got lucky. You can usually trade 1-2 packs for the Pokemon you want, with the exception of some cards, like Shaymin EX which goes for 20-30 packs.

don't open tradable packs and save them up for cards that you actually want, but I always open packs that are trade locked just to get cards because there's nothing better to do with them
you probably just got lucky with your pulls, but usually packs just have trash inside of them and you would be better off trading a few of them for cards you want.

What the fuck? Just wanted to play some tournament matches (theme) and the only rewards I'll get is some tickets. Why did they remove the regular rewards for themed tournaments? The reason I liked theme is because fuck NM. And now I'm basically forced to play standard/expanded/legacy.

Been for a bit, it's pretty great against anything if you can setup two Mega Sceptiles to heal each other. That's the dream. Max Elixir makes it relatively realistic too.
I was given over 50 codes, mostly Fates Collide, Ancient Origins, and Break Point. Played super casual online back in BW, never since. Is it statistically likely I can make a decent deck out of these without doing a lot of trading? I'm too lazy to deal with that aspect.
