Yeah now that I understand it's supposed to be based on a nekomata I can see the Fire/Ghost typing since nekomata are Japanese spirits.

Litten will become a tiger with a heavy, bulky frame similar to Arcanince but obviously with its own colourscheme.
Rowlet will become a giant, towering treetrunk owl based on the great grey owl, which matches his round-headed design and is also the largest type of owl there is.
