And I mean a better world, and not stopping the world from judgement day.
I can already picture it, every city has a couple of sidequests. You can simply speedrun to elite4 or do a more slow paced game with small stories about a couple characters every place, maybe every gym leader could have a sidequest almost like Sick Ampharos in Silver/Gold.

Because the franchise has long since abandoned the idea of being a solid JRPG, doing side quests and stuff and instead is just an 8-gym-simulator where you save the world and defeat an evil team. They had a fantastic thing going with the Looker missions and it was also optional, meanwhile Delta Episode was garbage and compulsory.To me, Shin Megami Tensei has become the better Pokemon game since it is exactly as you describe.
