I doubt they're going to do any remakes ever again due to VC games having bank compatibility.

They aren't going to have just a single set of games in a generation, so expect something else in Gen 7. Whether that's remakes, sequels, or something else is to be determined, but what I'm curious about is what the next spin off could be (aside from Go).

Don't over estimate the gen 4 games, they only sold about 1 mil more than RSE and are the games that were berated the most for its flaws in japan and outside of it.

That doesn't change the fact that DPPt as games have been panned hard relative to the other games in the series and due to that negative reception it's impacted the future games as seen in their linearity and ease as well as mega pokemon themselves.
Also, those 1 million "fans" the game regained never came back for subsequent versions if sales are anything to go by seeing as both Gen 5 and XY were about 16 mil each.
Lucario is probably the only good thing to come out of that era as far as public reception goes.

DP reached 17,5 millions. Only 1 million more than RSE and there's still the fact, that the DS had two times more sells than the GBA.
The most hyped game and best sold game percentage wise after RS was probably XY with it's about 15 millions right now with an installment of 55 millions for the 3DS
