Oh shit, I'm glad you made a thread about this! I've never seen anyone talk about it. It's time for some hardcore theories in this thread.
Okay, so look; the first map in the center is Kanto, tilted sideways. The second map on the right is Sinnoh, also sideways. Most interestingly, the color of the ocean and land swaps between maps.
There is a third map on the left. It matches NO KNOW REGIONS. I tried to actually get out google maps and scan every coastline in the world for a similar shape, (not knowing which half was water and which half was land, which I'm sure is what they intended,) and came up with nothing, EXCEPT for the fact that it looked too me like the northen part of Australia. But I don't think it is, it's not an exact match. I also didn't think to look at hawaii so I dunno if it matches with any of the island.
Either way, they put all those maps there on purpose, so I don't think the third map is something they just made up.

Oh yeah I forgot, -- on the maps, there's a line and a center point. The one is Sinnoh is DEFINITELY right on top of Iron Island. The one on the Kanto map is centered somewhere to the right of Fuchisia city, but I have no clue what that could be indicating.
I thought like, maybe those points on the map depict major meteor impacts. It sort of looks like there's a line indicating the trajectory of the meteor's path as it crashed down to earth, and while I couldn't find anything online, I could swear there was an npc who said Iron Island was the result of a huge meteor impact.... The middle of the line also seems to go right through spear pillar.
desu it's probably just a map of weather patterns, them being inside the weather institute and all, but it's still intriguing to think about. Especially that third map.

Closest thing I could find on a map of Hawaii was this part of land on Oahu but it doesn't really fit well.
