idk, probably 80 or something? They can spend less dev time on models now that they already made the first 721 + first big batch of megas during XY development. So at this point they just have new pokemon / megas to model + trainers in terms of battle assets. I doubt we will get another 100+ generations simply because Masuda stated he wanted smaller gens as the number of pokemon was getting too high too fast, but I feel like somewhere around 80-90 is reasonable, get us to just over 800, but not a hell of a lot more than that.

I'd like to see there be three regional birds, each with only two stages like Hoothoot or Swellow. Grass/Flying, Fire/Flying, and Water/Flying.
It would be like those stupid monkeys except cooler and more useful, since you could choose from different early birds for different type match-ups on your team, as well as the traditional Fly-slave.
But given BW and XY, Gamefreak would just hand the "correct" one to you for free before you even reach the first gym AND let you catch the others on the first route with a really common spawn rate.

I'm hoping that the Alola region is isolated enough from the rest of the pokemon world to not have anything related to Mega evolution
