Before we get started I just want to let you know I don't mean to cause any trouble. I am one of the few people who believed that these where the starters but when the actual starters where released I sort of wanted Roothoot and friends to be real but also didn't at the same time. Any ways I really like the new starter designs and think that the old leak could have new meaning. The real reason why this community was divided (Owl Beleivers, Those who didn't believe the Owl, Trolls who said it was real, Trolls who said it was fake) is because Roothoot and friends where crowned as starters but the thing is... They don't look like starters at all. They still could be real though. It appeared out of knowhere like Wottergate and still has not been disproven. Anyways it was never actually said that these where starters so they could fit anywhere in the dex. Roothoot for example looks like it could be an evolution of Rwolet. Its face has a similar design and the colour pallet is pretty much identical. The only thing different is its eyes but evolutions have been known to change drastically (Chespin for example)... What about the other two Pokémon that came with it? Well the rock creature I could see being a Volcanic Sabre Tooth Tiger line (Volcano= Hawaii and prehistoric creatures have a rocky look in Pokémon) and the water one is most likely a dolphin line since it is Hawaii and everyone wants a dolphin...

The original image of 'roothoot' had the face and head color swapped from what they are shown as now, it was other people who swapped them around in later fanart of 'roothoot' and it is that color swap that resembles the color scheme of Rowlet, not the original.
And lets not get into all the artistic faults in Roothoot that are giant red flags as to it being fake, as people seem to ignore those in this case.
