I want to like Litten. I love cats and fire starters are usually my favorite, and its fuse tail is cool. But its overall design just doesn't look good to me at all. I hope its final evo is better (please remain quadruped).

Right here! Litten struck me right away while I was disappointed in the other two on my first watch if the reveal. Now I think Rowlet is cute and Popplio is a bro but Litten all the way. I like that it looks like a grumpy asshole rather than cutesy like the others.

Fire/Poison is a cool typing that they've never done but I don't see it happening since burn and poison cancel each other out. Fire/Rock would continue the double RPS theme with Rowlet's flying but is problematic since it cancels out Litten's type defense vs grass and makes it even weaker to water, pretty much cementing it as the worst starter. Fire/Dark is an unfortunate pairing because Houndoom exists but I just don't see a lot of other good options.
Man, Rowlet's flying type is really problematic. Maybe he'll lose that as he evolves.

Burn and Poison are major status effects, a pokemon can have only one. If you have one, you can't get another. They don't replace each other on the fly.
Be prepared to hope you get the burn before the poison, as burn is basically a buffed poison.
I hope the evolutions are not distinctly masculine like Chespin's, I am currently intending to soft reset for a female.
