I hate how derpy he looks. Yet he has some odd pull to him. I'm really not sure if he's my favorite, but I think he is.
I'm more confused about this seal than what gender trannies are.
Any ideas on what his evos will be like? For Froakie I knew he'd stay with a slim design; but I'm not sure about Popplio.

I always found that Feraligatr was pretty balanced in that aspect, its body seemed bulkier rather thann fat, even as a kid I thought it was muscle.
But something like Pignite is clearly just fat, also Chesnaught, those two are simply fat no matter how you look at them, I'd be fine with them making poplio a badass tough mon, but not a fat piece of garbage.
Also, breaking a little from the possible design, do you guys have any ideas as to how this guys stats could be just from design alone? I certainly can, all I could theorize is that the clown aspect might make it a fairy type, as Mr. mime was also clown-ey and became fairy in gen VI

Popplio is cute, but I fear for its evolutions. It has to stop being cute and become cool. If it's going to be more clownlike, it won't make it cool.
I'm trying to think of a cool Hidden Ability, maybe they'll give him something new.
I mean, he's pretty obviously based on a california sea lion, which don't tend to get too fat, and the official art for him really focuses on playfulness and acrobatics, making him fat would be sort of counterintuitive.
Also, I love the lil guy, wasn't sure how I felt about it in the trailer but as soon as I saw the official art I was sold.

I'm only here because I'm exclusively water starter on first playthrough. They could make a blue turd for the Water starter and I'd still be on board. I just hope this thing turns out good, I didn't like Oshawott either but Samurott was alright.
So, not trying to spawn any new faggotry here but I've noticed as I'm sure some others have that water starters in the past end up with some sort of "armor" if you will. The two being iffy would be feraligatr with his bands on his arms (I forget it legs as well) and the crown on empolion.

This was my first impression as well. I thought they were fakemon trying to cash in on the Sun/Moon hype but then they turned out to be legit. But Popplio has grown on me so much, it's bizarre.

I liked all three starters as soon as they were revealed. I liked Rowlett the least, but he quickly grew on me when I saw the head turning/etc. Popplio was my first choice, but I'm still not 100% sure who I'm going to pick. I like Litten because it's a legit sleek little kitten and not something with 50+ extra design portions on it. It reminds me of a witch's cat (Even though the starters are circus based and not magic based) so I'm still not sure exactly who I'll pick. As with every generation, I'll be leaving /vp/ soon to not spoil myself of the pokedex. Did that with gen 6 and wound up having the most fun I've ever had on it. Blew my mind when I found out there was customization.

Personally I don't buy into the whole tail=fuse thing but I suppose it's possible. Even if it is a cannon that's hardly offensive, not like it turns into a slanty-eyed pilot that learns Explosion.
None of the starters last gen became fat, so I hope at least Popplio is spared of becoming fat this gen. I really hope they all stay acrobatic, especially if they're all circus-related.
Pic related is the first thing that came to my mind when I thought of Popplio's evolutions. It makes sense that a sea lion would balance a ball on his nose, and a psychic ball is even cooler. I'd be happy if he evolved into something like pic related.
