No. They aren't.
They're the face of the games and play a role in the story, but they aren't legendary, even if you can only befriend them once per game.
Legends are the ones that require at least 8 yokai to summon, labeled legend appropriately.

I actually like YW having 'human' monsters, female ones are really cute. It's a nice change of pace from strictly 'monster' Pokemon and garish Digimon whose final forms look like knights and/or whores.

I came to accept any kinds of monster breeding, capturing games. I have a fond like towards the genre.

I miss the level5 that made Dark Cloud and Rogue Galaxy, now we have this shadow of its former self that churns out purile garbage like this and Inzauma. Nintendo and Level 5, the two biggest tragedies in this industry.

I don't see anything particularly wrong with the Ameri-kai, although it is a fact that most yokai look better animated; still images tend to not give them justice.
