Back on topic, my vote would probably go to Ferroseed. Ferrothorn is a bro, but Ferroseed is at best a bit funny because of the way it spins and it looks kinda silly if you imagine fighting, but I can't see it being someone's absolute favourite. If it is, I'd be happy to know why.

Because then I can come up with the more detailed anatomy of a pokémon based on various things, making me suddenly like some of them more, I can imagine how they live, how they eat, how they fight, this kind of stuff you'd never have any info on. And that's what makes fiction so great, everyone sees it differently. Sticking to canon is boring as fuck.

My favorite thing about them is how keen GF was with their lore - They cannot learn Aerial Ace despite having many other cutting moves, nor can they learn Aerial Ace despite having various charging attacks.
Both of these moves require very quick turning, which they are incapable of due to their movement patterns.

Wrong. Tauros, Tangela, Electabuzz, Omanyte and Omastar, Staryu and Starmie, Flareon, Vaporeon, Mr. Mime, and a few others. I was born in 1993 and got RB at US release. I'm not even gonna start about the other games when I played at release, which is all of them except BWcuz I decided to skip gen 5 and thank goodness I did. The region looked bland and I tried playing but stopped at the third gym a few months after release. Awful.
