Seals and sea lions have been my favorite animal ever since I could remember. Started because I had a stuffed seal that I slept with as a baby. I still love seals.
When Pokemon first came out, I felt like Seel was a horrible design for what should have been something cute as fuck. But I didn't think animals would be reused in future designs, so I thought Seel/Dewgong were what I'd be stuck with

Anyway, not him, but it just seems too simple, besides being an owl, there isn't much interesting to him. Though, to be fair, that's alright, because people like owls, and people love making owls do cute things.
I mean, I like all the starters, but Popplio just seems to have the most personality to him. Everything that people seem to hate about it are exactly what I love about it, it's a simple circus sea lion. Which is ironic, cause I just complained about the owl being too simple.

You could say the same thing about Popplio's design. I get the same impression from Rowlet's design and the things he does in the trailer; the way he throws his feathers and the other cute things he does really makes me like him. His design is simple but unique too.
But yeah, everyone has opinions. Yours is just as valid as mine, pal. And I like Popplio just the same. It's gonna be a tough decision choosing between them when the game comes out. Hopefully they don't screw up Popplio's evolutions like they did with Oshawott.
