I feel like the way they described the cat's personality makes me feel like he'll get that. Maybe it'll be kind of like the funny guy and the straight guy with Ash being the laid back one and the cat being his straight man.

Girl gets the performing one, and the guy gets the funny one (look at that bow tie, it's pretty clearly a comic of some kind) and Ash gets the "cool " one (even if you think it is edgy, children can't tell the difference )

He actually hasn't ever chosen a starter aside from his Pikachu. Every starter he's had has been one he eventually found in the wild or one that was abandoned by a former trainer. The one time he had the chance to choose one was in Unova with Oshawott but he had to leave before he was able to pick it so it just started following him a while.
More likely than not Rowlet.
More often than not, Ash has gotten the grass starter first, if he would get any of the others at all.

He just mained Greninja so I doubt they'll do water twice in a row. Before that, he had Infernape (The Gen 5 starters are not worth bringing up)

It would be nice if he got Rowlet. Then when he inevitably abandons it back at the lab it can bro up with his shiny Noctowl.
I think Popplio and it'll be exactly like Oshawott... coming out it's ball at random moments, showing off by doing tricks etc. Girl will get Litten and other guy/rival will get Rowlet. Assuming Ash doesn't get all three again.

He's only had every starter in three of six regions. In Hoenn he had Treecko, in Sinnoh he had Chimchar and Turtwig, in Kalos he has Froakie.
I can see Ash with Pipplio, it gives me an Oshawott vibe and Oshawtt was the Unova starter he used most. I'd rather Rowlet though.
Ash will get Rowlet towards the end of XYZ, then he gets sweeped by some guy with an ice team in the league.
He's tell Rowlet they need to train more and heads of too Alola, instead of self-assessing that maybe he shouldn't have had 4 flying types on his team.

Dag if I know, Froakie smashed all expectations on starters completely. If they're going to choose one, then they will have considered what it's final evo is going to be beforehand. We can't make that kind of prediction yet.
