Also the the water start will invariably evolve into a . not sure what too expect from the owl's bowtie, though the tail leaf/feathers are clearly goingt o turn into some kind of coattail/cape. Getting Iriomote mountain cat vibes from nyaabi, but it evolving into some kinda tiger seems almost inevitable.

Simplistic design and good design don't always go hand in hand.
Turtwig started off as a rather simplistic design for example and was still a good design. To each their own though, I just don't personally like any of them.

Gen 1: Liked them all
Gen 2: Liked them all
Gen 3: Liked them all
Gen 4: Liked 2 of them
Gen 5: Liked 1 of them
Gen 6: Liked 1 of them
Gen 7: Like 0 of them
Luckily for some of the first stages, they changed drastically as they evolved which swayed by opinions differently one way or the other.
