It's strange, when the first games came out they didn't have nearly the capacity for sprite detail that they have now, yet the official designs were still very detailed.
Now that they have the ability to do complex spritework and even full 3D models, all the official designs are incredibly simple.
Also I hate the fact that they moved to more "human" looking eyes in nearly all of the new pokemon they make.
I wish they'd start making pokemon with eyes that made them actually look like animals again, like rapidash and vulpix have.

I'm a fan of dark types so was on the fence because Litten is probably gonna wind up dark but Popplio's personality won me over. Probably my favorite starter after Totodile.
