so I just got a 3DS after years without playing pokemon (last one was platinum) and tomorrow I'll be going to get some games but don't know if I should pick up BW/B2W2 or X/Y and AS
I mean is there a point in getting older games? like moving then my pokemons to newer games or battles between XY and ORAS, or should I just get the newest game
(and since I can always play gen V in an emulator, I guess this now applies to X/Y)

BW2 if you wanna play 5th GEN.
XY if you want to play in new region, ORAS if you want to use latest megas but I would wait until SuMo comes out.

Get MH4U. It's dirt cheap and has hours of content plus online play. You can try MH3U, but it doesn't have online play but still fun nevertheless.
There's also Xenoblade Chronicles 3DS (if you get the New3DS) and Persona Q. Also Fire Emblem Fates if you're into S-RPGs.
Thanks for the replies guys, so I decided to get the gen vi games and downloaded a W2 ROM to at least explore the region and get familiar with its dex.
Will also check Monster hunter 4U, thanks, hoping to find them (even used) for a good price and then yeah wait for SuMo
