I get why people get rustled by localization changes, but Jynx was a product of Pokemon not being an international brand. They phased her out more slowly in Japan (I have a poster from early AG with her on it), which highlights the cultural difference.
Also, it should be clarified, folks from The Company have said at different times they never once got a complaint. Much like the issue with Ocarina of Time using an Islamic chant, they changed it to avoid backlash. I'm aware of the article by the culture critic, but that was just that, an article -- which in the early days of the internet, when it was relevant, was not widespread.
