Yes. They market them more than all the other Pokemon and they put more effort into their designs to make sure they're popular.

I really like the idea of starter Pokemon and I think they're a big part of Pokemon. Its not a problem that they're usually very popular at all.

Not really. I mean, in Gen l sure. I actually like Gen l Starters least, though.
The Squirtle line would've been great if they hadn't shat the bed when designing Blastoise.
