Why some of shota's badges are different? So south kalos confirmed?
In the anime series there are dozens of gyms in a region. Rivals have had different badges since Kanto.

I still think Sun and Moon is gen 7 but who said we cant have Kalos in the postgame with new gyms just like Janine and Blue in gen 2 Kanto and Cheren, Marlon and Roxie in gen 5?

He is competing for the Kalos League so yes, most likely a Kalos related gen, probably a new gen that also includes Kalos. He is also from Hoenn, but those are definitely Kalosian ones design wise, considering the Water and Flying ones don't look like Unovian.

They'd probably make more money than plushes, imagine some sober nice metallic badges with glass or not nobel gems and paints, I'd be rock hard.
The gym badges themselves are based on the Japanese regions, districts and city "logos" and mostly important on the Japanese family crests and their classy designs.

In the anime, it's implied that there are more than eight Gyms in each Region. All of Ash's Rivals have had some differing badges than Ash, who follows the Gym Order of the games.
