I'd personally go with the raptor one, apart from Sceptile there hasn't really been too many bipedal grass lizards, and I like all of the subtle changes between each stage. A pity that the last loses the "mask" the middle stage gets, so perhaps consider splitting the final's face in two, where the jaw can also be colored brown.
The fire starter has a lot to work against as a fire type simply because how Rapidash did it first. Yes, there are plenty of features that sets them apart, but it's nonetheless something people willbe harping about. Since it's clearly a nod towards Sleipner, an electric typing wouldn't be out of the question, with the manes being fluffy clouds and horns a bolt of lightning perhaps. All I'm saying is that the designs themselves are really nice, but that the fire typing will make things difficult for them.
The Water starter essentially has the same problem, except now it's mimicking Crustle. Like, really badly. Maybe it can work if you make the crab inhabit something else, but as for crabs + rocky structures, things will simply be too much of a reminder of an existing design.

All those mons you mentioned have a typing that's strongly connected to their species, bug typing to bugs in general and normal typing to early woodland critters. Fire, on the ohter hand, isn't an obvious typing to give horses, but had to be incorporated in such a way to make it clever, like Rapidash's mane. So if anyone else were to make a fire horse, it'd be less about following the usual procedure, and more about replicating the success of an earlier design.

PRetty sure those are btoh just generic sword pokemon. Gallade's design has that Spartan crest thing going on too. And Keldeo is just a pony but it was apparently also supposed to be a musketeer. If they wanted a kendo pokemon it's pretty easy to make it clear what its inspired by.
I could easily see Farfetch'd being a kendo pokemon. In fact I think that's one of the most common ideas for an evo for it. To be honest I'm kind of surprised our first Fighting/Flying type was a fucking wrestler and not a sword-based, Asian-inspired pokemon because of stuff like Aerial Ace.

I sometimes feel people get hooked up on what the fighting type is supposed to mean, when in reality it doesn't have to be based on specific fighting styles or techniques. I mean, if it does, then all the better, but imo, fighting types can both be about dealing precise, accurate damage, or just be loaded with fighting spirit/motivation.

I think it's nore people trying to get creative juices flowing. If someone says "I want to make a fighting-type" it's easier if they place a restriction on themselves for inspiration, so they say "I want a fighting type based on x". A lot of humanoid Pokémon could in a broad sense be fighting type really, but if someone wants to explicitly make a fighting type and not something that becomes a fighting type it's easier to have something to build off of which is what I think he was going for.
