My 3DS is almost fully hacked but I'm still buying a copy of Moon version. I don't trust digital copies of Pokemon games because if something happened I'd lose all of my stuff.
>>
>>26196003
You know you can backup your saves, right? It doesn't even need to be fully hacked, all you need is homebrew and svdt and you can have as many pokemon saves as you want.
>>
>>26195965
The game won't leak more than 3-5 days early, at most. (2 days early is what I'd estimate).

It'll be datamined and that'll be that.

Also, you can use Powersaves to backup physical copies. Either digital or physical, there's always a way to circumvent Nintendo's backward decades-old mindset.

I'd say it'll get to be around that easy by then, it's already much easier than it was back in January. The guides and software are a little more polished now.

Like look and see how easy it is to install the Luma3DS CFW once your system is ready for homebrew shit.

>>26196087
It depends on when companies receive their game shipments and whether the employees follow the rules or not. X and Y were leaked like 2 weeks before release thanks to some small Italian and Canadian shops getting them early, right?

Pirate Moon as Digital (obviously), buy Sun as Physical.

That's my plan whether it's leaked early or not.

Even pirating the games themselves got ridiculously easier recently.

I made that GIF btw, glad to see it getting reposted here and by other anons on /hbg/ <3. It's about time people update from ded rxTools.

>>26196953
It indeed is if you already have a working setup. Ofc you'll need some further steps if you want to use NTR (needs a 9.6 fimware.bin in Luma folder, but it's easy to get), and you might want to add some arm9 payloads to its bootloader (such as Decrypt9 or Uncart), but these are all entirely optional.

I've been considering trying updated sysnand rather than my old emunand setup. Is that worth it to do?
Also, what version of fbi(and site on your computer) is that?

It's the latest version of FBI. You can go to http://3ds.nfshost.com/, and scan any of the QR codes (click the button next to the encrypted key), and it'll install the game.

Picture related, it's Pokemon TCG.
>>

>I've been considering trying updated sysnand rather than my old emunand setup. Is that worth it to do?

I haven't done it, and I personally don't find it worth for the effort and risk (although a lot reduced) it takes. I mean I only turn my 3DS on like once in 2 days, I couldn't care less about faster/improved bootrate, and I haven't gotten close to need the extra GB yet. DS/GBA work better since you're already on sysnand but I use neither of those. It's fine if you care about those, but people overhype it a lot. I'd only update to it if Nintendo broke emunand permanently somehow.

>Also, what version of fbi(and site on your computer) is that?

The other anon already answered but it started on 2.2+. Downloading from CDN started earlier but auto-downloading from tickets is very recent. You pretty much don't need eShop at all anymore if you don't want.

Buy it anyway. Kind of like to see pokemon continue and not die out. That means it needs new content. That means, buying the mainline games.

Probably would have a copy of the other version but maybe not. The ease of global trading makes it piss easy to get the exclusives yours is lacking.

CFW-wise, Luma has built-in lang emulation so you pretty much only need NTR for screenshots and cheats now.

Homebrew-wise, really depends but FBI is OP now like you can see from above posts.
>>
>>26197911
>>26198267
Oh yeah also, every recent CFW has built-in regionfree superior than what rxTools had/have.

Running it now and it was fully worth the 5 hours or so it took me to install.

That "disappointing Gen VI" still sold really well. They actually earned way more than they deserved, especially ORAS that had no efforts in addressing XY issues. Not to mention how much profit they make out of Pokébank by charging fucking 5 bucks a year for "server maintenance" when 3000 pokémon weight roughly 679KB, and if we round it to 1MB and consider 1 million users, it's just 1TB of data you could even fit in your average HDD while getting 5 bucks from every goy who doesn't use even 20% of it most likely.

Are you really supporting this?

Try two months, because that just happened with a 3DS game. Review copies went out, reviewer sent the code to a bud, bud made a .CIA out of it.

Oh I've already gotten a9lh+Luma3ds. I just didn't know FBI could do QR codes from that website. Do you know if it installs a ticket when you install in that way?
>>
>>26201711
The QR codes are just direct link for the ticket files which are hosted there. Recent FBI version can both install CIAs and tickets from QR codes with direct links, but starting from 2.2, right after scanning a QR code from a ticket you're prompted to download from CDN right away, which is fucking nice.

>And I thought CIAngel was amazing

Desu I never liked CIAngel's idea of downloading CIAs from the 3DS, it's a waste. You have to put up both with 3DS's capped download speed and the slow CIA installation speed later. If you wanted the CIA file (for sharing or whatever), especially for a big game you were better off using something like FunKeyCIA on your PC.

FBI however installs as it downloads just like eShop, and what people don't seem to realize is that even though you're still capped to 3DS's slow down speed, installing a CIA from the SD is just slightly faster, and you'd still have to go through it even if you have some NASA internet and want to use Mega to download faster. It's worth in the end. Not to mention not needing the double space of the game size to install it.
>>
>>26201787
Senpai you're definitely right about CIAngel having really bad download speeds.

Maybe CIAngel will add installing while downloading. I never knew FBI had gotten so much better. Has Big Blue Menu improved any?
>>
>>26201830
>Senpai you're definitely right about CIAngel having really bad download speeds.

Yeah, 3DS as a whole is slow as shit for downloading. Even eShop.

Also I looked up CIAngel again and just noticed it actually added installing direct to 3DS 10 days ago lel. Good I guess, though I personally still trust FBI more for this.

>Has Big Blue Menu improved any

BBM is outdated, the latest Devmenu is better. But FBI is still superior.
>>
>>26201849
>I personally still trust FBI more for this.

Same, I've always used FBI to install my CIAs.

>But FBI is still superior.

I figured. Especially with the new QR downloader.

Speaking of QR codes, is injecting Pokemon via QR codes still dead?
>>
>>26197497
>FBI
>>
>>26201871
It's dead but you can download an old browser and install it on your CFW if you're on O3DS. The annoying thing is that I don't know if there's a version-spoofed version out there and the original will cause the 3DS to download the newest one while on sleep and bring the update nag unless you use Tubehax. Non-spoofed also means it'll be overwritten the next time you update the 3DS anyway.

It can probably still be manually spoofed but I'm too retarded to do it. 3DSNUS has an option to do it but Nintendo already took the files out of their servers so it won't work.

Here's the download link of the legit spider exploit-compatible browser FOR USA REGION if you can get around/don't mind the annoying nag: https://mega.nz/#!2YAyWZIS!n-epeIUpuGC8GGvBRgcoGS7gFY0QK2c1EQWQ9oviSe4

You have to uninstall the old one first. I recommend doing a NAND backup just in case you regret it or something.

>>
>>26201871
Just use JKSM to backup your save and use Pkhex to hack in whatever you want, and import it back in.
In case you don't want to inject your SD card for it (Especially on a n3DS) you can always use an FTP server. Just download FTP-GMX here https://github.com/FloatingStar/FTP-GMX/releases, install the .cia, and use an FTP client like Filezilla on your PC to quickly transfer them back and forth.
>>
>>26202688
There's also PCHex++ which got a CIA version and can get most of the basics done right from the 3DS.

>>
>>26204965
Same applies to emunand though (sysnand 9.2 being your "brick protection"). The only chance you have to actually brick sysnand is if you accidentally uninstall a vital title while installing patchedTWL/AGB firm, which is not only niche, but if you're retarded enough to brick doing that, you're guaranteed to fuck up setting up A9LH (I don't think there's ever been any report of someone bricking by doing that). Otherwise you won't be touching sysnand at all.

The fast/guaranteed boot, the extra ~1GB and the extra AGB/TWL convenience are the real big advantages of A9LH over emunand.

It's half legit and a meme. It has its solid advantages (see >>26205414 bottom) but people overhype it too much. For the average gamer it's really just some extra convenience, nothing miraculous. Hell, there's some dinosaurs who even still use MSET because shit just werks. The elitism meme is just annoying (at least it's more frequent on gbatemp which is already absurdly cancerous).
