This fucking fight is my favorite in XY so far I think. Shalour Gym Battle was my favorite prior because the final fight between Pikachu and M-Lucario was phenomenal and a monumental occasion. But everything about the Diantha fight was just on point.

I think Shota vs. Ash will be Top 4, showcasing how far Shota has come and how much he has grown as a trainer by making it that far but I think Ash will still be victorious over him, especially if he ends up losing in their next battle. It will be a 6 vs. 6 and Hawlucha and Noivern especially will get their redemption.
Ash will make it to the finals which is the farthest he's ever gone and then will get knocked out by a Tobias/Alan tier trainer.
As for Ash vs. Tierno. Still hope it'll be a 6 vs. 6 but I can't see Tierno going far in the league. Ash vs. Trevor can happen during prelims as a 1 vs.1.

Why does everyone feel like Alain will beat our main man Ash. Ash will fuck him up, Episode 23 showed how strong our frog is. This is if he enters the league, he doesn't even seem like the type to go for badges, and so far we don't even know if he has any badges.

In one sense, I'm upset Megazard Y is never going to be featured in anything since Ash isn't using it.

We're being shown full teams for Tierno and Shota which set them up for prime full battles at the League. Showing Alan owning more then just Charizard is set up for future participation at the League. His Charizard alone is on equal fighting grounds with Tobias's Darkrai so him speeding through collecting gym badges isn't a foolish idea.

Can we stop talking about Ash's team and Greninjash and instead talk about the fact that Serena has a crush on Ash?
I made a map of Ash's journey through Kalos. A few points of note:
- I didn't include Serena's separate journey in the first four episodes of XY.
- XY18 takes place at both Camphrier and the Parfum Palace, but I only put the tag on the former.
- XY32-36 (Korrina's journey post-Geosenge and Hawlucha's capture) were put in the general northwestern part of Kalos because there are no game-equivalent locations between Geosenge and the Reflection Cave.
- Same goes for XY38-42 (Trevenant episode and summer camp), which I put on the coastline near Shalour.
- XY61-65 are generically placed in the Lumiose City badlands although only 61 and 62 truly take place there. There was just no equivalent to the non-desert areas from the next three episodes.
- It looks like the group backtracks for XY79 because the Pokéball Factory is technically inside Laverre in the games.
- Same for Dendemille and the Lost Hotel in XY81.
- XY82 is someplace not snowy between Dendemille and the snow mountain.
- XY&Z9 looks like significant backtracking, but that's the official map's fault as Terminus Cave is actually just north of the entrance to Couriway in the games themselves (so if the map was more accurate, XY&Z1-7 would be above 9 instead of the opposite).
- I placed the Master Class episodes roughly where Serena's map shows them even though there's obviously no game-equivalent town there.
- XY&Z30's placement seems really freaking confusing, but that's how it looks like going from what we know.
The battle with Shota only seems to be about half the episode, and the rest focused on TF.
