he only time we might get a pokemon direct before the announcement of the games that follow Sun and Moon is if they do something so incredibly badass that they would never think of doing it in a million years in the first place.
For example there is a new pokemon plane being painted within the next few months, it will probably have some S&M pokemon on it like the starters or maybe the box legendaries. It will likely just be shat out with little fanfare in July or something some time after all the pokemon on it have already been revealed.
Now imagine how awesome a way of revealing the new pokemon it would be if there was a live pokemon direct revealing the unveiling of the new plane's paint job and it's the first time the internet and general public gets to see the starter pokemon. Shit, the amount of man jazz and lady juice released by spontaneous orgasm around the world would cause flooding in Bangladesh and the Somerset Levels.
