Anyone else not able to get through the story because of having to raise imperfect Pokemon?
I grind hours and hours in ORAS looking for egg moves, good natures, and IVs even in the early game.
It always leads to frustration and resetting the cartridge.
At least now there's Poke Bank so it's not a complete loss.

Same. I've never actually beaten a pokemon game I don't think because of this except XY. No particular reason on XY except I think it was because I said "this is the generation I finally do it so I can really collect all the pokemon". I still didn't do that and reset after realizing I didn't like the team I beat it with. And also realizing the pokemon past seer person in the psychic city. And the league jotting down levels. I still didn't get all my levels right on my final game. It's crippling.

I got too caught up in catching Synchronize Ralts for the natures for my planned team and then I realized I couldn't decide what team I wanted anyway and that took so long I just got bored.
Yeah.. Took me almost a month to beat X because I was bent on catching everything on each route before moving on, as well as making sure that the mons I catch for my party are near perfect. Never been so anal about it until now, no idea what happened.

there's really no point having perfect mons when you're just beating NPCs. I just have an average team for the game then start to specialise for inline play.

Even knowing this I just can't help it. You can really tell when a Pokemon has nature that goes against whatever moves it needs or wants. At least I can. Besides that I just have a hard time picking a team. I don't know why I have that and I'm trying to stop that. My team's need to feel like "protagonist teams" and that's so loose and hard to define and sometimes so impossible to do that it just drains all the fun from games I enjoy.

The first time I played through Emerald I didn't even bother catching any pokemon, just me and my Sceptile all the way to Wallace (and eventually Steven). Literally the only times I had trouble was with Flannery's Torkoal and Winona's Skarmory. I feel sorry for you guys if not having the ABSOLUTE MOST PERFECTEST TEAM EVER affects your enjoyment of the game.

I'm like this as well. Mostly about nature though. And sometimes with egg moves because Gen 3 and prior had garbadge distribution of moves in a lot of cases.

In game you can literally use whatever you want because the games are so easy. IVs only matter for multiplayer stuff, but they are a huge deal there.
