I feel like Floatzel would be near the top of the list.
Oh dude there are so many Pokemon I wanna choose from. Houndoom, Arcanine, Ninetales, Pyroar, Eeveelutions, you can see where this would go. And small critter wise like bugs, could go with Larvesta or scorupi even.

Honestly I feel like getting a typically dog pokémon would ruin the entire appeal of it. I mean you have pretty much anything that is under 6ft long and under as a choice of a pet, and you'd go for the one that you can basically have right now in the world you currently live in?
If that's your choice that's your thing, it just feels like a wasted opportunity to me.

In the world right now I'd choose something medium like lab sized, probably Houndoom or an Eeveelution, Easy enough to take care of and feed under my living conditions. I know that probably doesn't answer your question much, but a basic canine would be very reasonable.

Eh, I'm a pretty simple person with the pets I'd want, hell, the 2 dogs I want most in RL is a King Shepherd and a Rottsky. 2 Mix breed dogs. But the reality is that I have a Black Lab and I love him very much.
