It's bad design because it's boring and unimaginative, and because it sometimes results in designs that are just hard to tell apart. It also makes it less satisfying to see your pokémon evolve, since it's less "wow, a new pokémon!" and more "wow, it has slightly different colours on some of its feathers now...".

See, I don't follow that line of thinking. While it would certainly be boring if all Pokemon were like that, not every Pokemon needs to be a Dewott => Samurott deal. Not every evolution needs to try and reinvent the wheel if the base form of that Pokemon already had a pretty damn solid design. There is room for Pokemon like Tentacruel and Muk in the franchise, just as there is room for Pokemon like Octillery and Dragonite.

Look @ this fuckin beauty queen and replicate that. I'm still a fan of sugimoris newer iterations but nothing is quite as satisfying as these cartoony monster dinos. The best fake mons imo are the ones that don't delve too far from the egg group silhouettes.

Try out different styles of eyes to see which one suits it the best. I'm not convinced these are working for it. Also maybe make the ears just a tad bit smaller, the flame parts especially. I'd also try and make the body a bit smaller in comparison too, since starters tend to have overly large heads in general.

Yeah, I'm not really a fan of it pokemon made of multiple entities like Dugtrio or Vanilluxe, so I thought making it akin to Vespiquen as in a big rat that controls lots of the small rats and hides them in its fur or something. The decoy idea is cool too, I'll see if I can expand on that for the evolution...

Since this comment always appears without fail every time a Poison/Electric fakemon is posted, I brought it upon myself to actually look up what DaybreakM made. I can only assume it's Scorvoxion (pic related), although it's possible to know for sure since he deleted most of it from his dA due to art theft incidents. Not that it's a memorable design, the Poison typing comes with its bug appearance for the most part, although I fail to see why it'd be electric apart from its color scheme.

You're definitely onto something with the bottom right one. Maybe make the crown into something like a block of cheese? A random legit crown seems kinda weird all of a sudden.

It's a fun idea, yeah, but I don't think I'm gonna be using it. Actual rat kings are fucking gross as hell, and I wanted to capitalize on that and give the evolution a secondary type of either dark or poison. I like the regal looking design, but it's just too cutesy, which isn't what I'm gunning for. Maybe I can gross him up a bit more and keep the royal look, though.
