The battle sprites for the Pokemon look great and the wild Pokemon as set pieces is charming but the overworld sprites for trainers are too damn big in comparison to the actual map and the text boxes rub me the wrong way.

Game Freak aren't professionals. Look at their first DS generation (Gen IV): they promised 3D on those games and at the end we got a game that "only" has 3D in the overworld, not on the battles and even when the battles are 2D just like previous generation, they were at 30 FPS by actually no reason.
Now on Gen VI all Pokémon models are high poly, and because of that when using a move on a battle sometimes the game slows down because of the high number of polys (most likely done for Amie but they could make Amie-only models)
