When I was young I got pokemon blue as as a Christmas present. I chose squirtle as my starter and it was my first Pokémon ever.
I don't have a sad story or anything but I loved that squirtle as if it was real. I taught him 4 water moves and took on the whole game with him.
I never did evolve him even at level 100

I've always felt bad when Zardbros get shat on over marketing. It's just as stupid as being shat on for having a mustache. Even though I think genwunners are the cancer killing Pokemon it's not Charizard's fault. Even if it is a generic dragon sometimes simplicity is better, and there's nothing wrong with it when it can do so many things. I've always liked Pokemon that weren't quite flowcharty ingame and Charizard fits that perfectly with how many TMs it can learn and even moreso in WT runs and ROMhacks when Egg Moves and Tutor moves get thrown in the mix.
Honestly the only reason I can think of for people shitting on it is muh marketing and muh overrated.Honestly outside of facebook Charizardfags aren't even as obnoxious about their viability as Gengarfags or Garchompfags. Not even close.
