Interesting sun sweeper due to Weather Ball. It doesn't get walled by Steel types not named heatran, so there's that, but Venusaur is objectively superior. It has Gen I syndrome where it's stats are jack-of-all-trades and master of none.
I think if it got a poison move that was super effective or least hit neutrally on Steel it would have a decent niche.

if it's special defense matched it's special from gen I (100) it would be okay. Too fragile as is, plus vulnerable to brave birds. lack of an ability to hit heatran hard is also a problem.
they were clearly trying to do something with it by giving it belch, gluttony and natural gift, but it just doesn't work well.

No it doesn't. I mean without the sun up, yeah it sucks, but this thing has won me countless games.
You won't believe the amount of times somebody has left their steel type in or switched it in to my victreebel in the sun only for it to receive a weather ball to the face.
Nobody expects the weather ball for some reason.
Throw Knock Off on the thing as well as Power Whip/Leaf Blade on it and all is good.
Growth for those rare times that you can set up in the sun and live and you are sweeping shit with ease.
