I think I finally have a final design for my grass starter komodo dragon, so I made pic related. I also made a wiki entry-based picture for the goldfish starter, complete with sprites that I can share.
I'm still a bit iffy about the komodo's name though. If I can come up with something better than Serado, I'll probably change it.

Based on those fucking nightmare koi with human face patterns. I tried to make it look like a regional offshoot of magikarp since they're both based on koi. Like alomomola and luvdisc.
I don't know if i should make its evo a fishlike heron- because i remember reading somewhere that's another version of the myth magikarp and gyrados are based on- or keep going with the spooky human face theme.

The leaves are actually going to cover the face to make it resemble a flower by the final evo. Going for a carnivorous plant thing with it. I haven't finalized the evos yet though, so in the meantime, this is the goldfishmon's final info barring stats.

Last one I have made. Really happy with it. Those sprites are because i drew it when i found some sprite edits i made back in 2009, dont pay them any mind.
Someone mentioned broadening the evo's upper body to take away the human proportions so i might do that when i feel like going in and changing it. The former is a mostly physical attacker that learns mostly fighting and physical ghost moves. The latter learns a few electric moves because Frankenstein.

A)Gangs of zombat gather together in urban environments to fight against each other in tournament style brawls. Locals use salt to ward them off.

C) Zombat are the result of vengeful spirits inhabiting the graves of pokemon. Often born on ancient battlefields, they're made of bits and pieces of dead bodies.

Yeah that's the one. Good old fashioned photoshop pencil of various sizes and an eraser to sharpen lines since I use a mouse (my tablet mysteriously stopped working years ago). I'm new to this new fangled technology thing and oh my god i don't know what i'm doing.
Also, I thought i had more done but i guess not, so that's it from me. I want to start working on rival regional bugs: A Water/Bug Locust based on the plagues of egypt, and A Ground/Flying emperor moth based on the Pharaoh.
So I'm the original creator of that cringy boomerang-holding dingo line that gets posted around here from time to time. Decided to redesign it a bit, and instead shift the focus of its design onto dogs and their fascination with bones. I'd like to put a mid-stage in there so it doesn't go from 'my mom's dog' to 'bone-wielding wolf'.

I actually really like it. Good idea going with the "dog and his bone" thing. I liked it better when i thought those horns were just a giant rib or something wedged into the fluff of it's neck, instead of a bison skull on it's back, but i'd like to see where it goes tweaked and colored.

I like your design and I actually have an idea of a somewhat similar two-stage evolutionary line. The first Pokémon would be some lizard with some kind of bell pepper body (pure Grass type), the second one a komodo dragon with chili peppers around its neck, as a reference to spicy food (Grass/Fire). It would also know many Dragon and Poison type moves.
Too bad I rather suck at drawing, so I don't really have designs for them. It's also kinda difficult to imagine in detail.

Here is a line I was working on awhile back.
The first form is actually a design I had submitted to Pokemon Sage, but the evo it had before was really shitty. Besides I dont think they wanted another bug. So i redesigned a new evo for it.

Yeah beginning mouse sorta deal. The idea of mine was first form finds random things like food wrapping and wears it for protection and often try to beg trainers for food. The final form is greedy and hordes food, even stealing from its own kind.
