I think we have about a 70% chance of retaining the PSS, and I don't see why they'd remove Super Training when every game makes competitive training/breeding easier, so Amie might luck out and get bundled with them for the next little while.

It's an Eeveelution. Since it's the Eevee line they're not going to retcon it.
So in hindsight, Amie will end up staying because of the whole Eevee -> Sylveon.
I wonder if this will be in Gen 7 with Sun and Moon, since they've dropped other cool stuff like Poketch and the Underground.

Probably because it would be odd to have Glaceon use the dawn stone but its counterpart Leafeon use the moss rock. Plus it was an opportunity for them to show off the new evolution mechanic of location-based evolution, the same way that Umbreon and Espeon showed off happiness and time-based evolutions and Sylveon showed off amie-based evolution.
