How to progress in PTCGO, tl;dr edition:

No. None of them are good.
There are plenty of shitty rogue options, though. In Standard, you have Haxorus, Salamence, and Hydreigon. Kingdra and Dragonite are bottom of the barrel. Honorable mention goes to the new Dragalge, even though it's a Stage 1.
In Expanded, Dragonaxe Haxorus with Bronzong is usable.
You have a better chance in Legacy, though. Garchomp, Deafen Dragonite, Flygon/Dusknoir, and the same Haxorus as an anti-Plasma tech perform better as rogues here than their Standard/Expanded counterparts.
As a reminder, in both Expanded and Legacy, you have access to Call Gabite and Altaria.
While technically not Stage 2, Noivern Break is a valid rogue that's better than everything else listed here, since you win games of sack alone since it's hard for an opponent to pull four straight Hex Maniacs.

I started playing last weekend because I had 20+ codes lying around. so I grinded through all Trainer Challenges while code redemption was down and redeemed them just now. wanted to go VS for the first time with the new cards, but when I tried to enter Standard format only my Hoopa EX deck box was available.
lost as expected, and am trying to fix some things within the deck that I thought were bad. when I try to enter Standard again now though, it seems it's not qualified for that format anymore. so, /vp/, help me out on 2 things alright
1) what card is in there that's not allowed in Standard format?
2) can you help me fix this as much as possible? I don't have any fancy cards though obviously.

Now onto your deck. Here's the thing. It's terrible, but you're actually onto something here. Wobbuffet is a great card, and Zubat and Golbat can deal a good amount of damage. So you need to focus your deck around those guys. And also, you'll want to get Crobat from Phantom Forces. Max out both lines: 4 Wobb, 4-4-4 Crobat. Cut all the other Pokemon. Basically, you leave Wobbuffet active to shut off Abilities while your bats stack up damage. And of course you can attack with Wobbuffet too.
Next, your supporters. You'll want to replace Fan Club with Bridgette, and the 3 Tierno's with 3 Professor Sycamores. Obviously the N's have to go for a few more weeks. Throw in a Xerosic or two, and one or two AZ.
As for items, cut the Energy Switch and Energy Retrievals and run 4 Trainer's Mail and 4 Super Scoop Up. Add another Professor's Letter. Bump Level Ball up to 4. EXP.ALL and Lucky Helmet need to go and be replaced with more Muscle Bands.
Add in 3-4 Dimension Valley.
Cut back the Psychic Energy count from 14 to 8.
That's about all I can think of right now.

Those comments are from when the codes were valid and single use. Currently, they're supposed to be expired and now infinite use. Technically even using it once would be abusing it. So you really shouldn't be redeeming them more than once or twice each.

Actually no. Florges is shit, and no one uses it, if you can trade it for a single pack, you are lucky. Giovanni Scheme is slow in fast decks, and slow decks have better cards than wasting their support on Giovanni.

Fast and slow is literally how a deck works, NM is a fast deck(too fast actually), it doesn't want to waste turns setting something up, just hitting as hard as you can as fast as you can.
Slow decks usually wants to disrupt fast decks, they want to survive fast decks until they run out of gas.
fast and slow is just another name for Aggro and Control, deck types known in any card game.

I just opened 69 ff packs and got 3 total ex cards and pulled 7 hypno
I'm not saying I deserved better but the interesting information is that I used the same code for about 50 of those packs
it looks like not every pack is worth the same (those odds are too skewed to be a coincidence)
