How did you decide your favorite Pokemon?
A mixture of taking a design I already liked and giving me more of it, and it pulling its weight in-game.
I liked flying-type Pokemon of all kinds already, but my first Swellow saved my ass enough times for me to use it as my ace over my starter in my first Sapphire run ages ago.
Pokédex entries make it seem like two aggressive dogs, and I love the dopey look of its faces

Realised it was my favourite after completing W2. Such a bro and was really reliable. Great movepool and while the design isn't for everyone, I personally really like it.

Scaly/Reptile = Best Pokemon(Same for other media... likely Dr Emmerich from Underground, New Tsundere Melissa for Girls show and view for Adults, and more examples... fuck... need a reptile friend/mascot)
At first I hated this guy, having to face it so many times vs team Aqua really brought me to dislike him, especially because I was more of a Magma girl. I gave it a try after I got Emerald and fell in love with the guy, he saved me so many times, and would sometimes sweep entire teams.
Also, he was the first and only HM slave that I've ever actually used. Dive/Waterfall/Surf/Crunch moveset desu senpai.
I used them in a run and felt a deep connection.

One day I became aware of what a qt Swablu was, then over time realized that I'd probably use an Altaria in my team, were I to theoretically have one. Altaria's own cuteness eventually grew on me enough that it overcame my previous favorite. I am pleased with its very fluffy Mega as well.
I don't even remember when I decided; I just know sneasel is it.
Admittedly, I didn't think that much about it at first. Using it for the first time in Black 2 is when I began to really appreciate its design and concept. That and illusion can be a really fun ability to abuse.

I've always loved the arthurian mythos and the image of a brave knight, so when the embodiment of all that came up I just couldn't help it.

I like most pokemon and a lot of my favorites are reptile/dinosaur looking ones but snorlax will always be my favorite bro.
I don't dislike any pokemon, but there are a lot i like more than others, so its always hard to choose a favorite, i'd say the most unexpected bro has been Mightyena, when i 6-0'd a guy in a showdown random battle, so i decided to try it out in the lower tiers and it's amazing
When i found out it was available from the start in Sacred Gold? hyped as fuck, it got a ton of buffs because drayano, and it was easily my best team member
i just love the guy, even if intimidate is annoying in game, i'm always hyped when i'm able to use one

Caught it in my first ever Pokémon game in a Great Ball. I was grinding to fight Morty since he beat me the first time and I had already seen Entei once so I knew his trick, and I decided to toss a ball and hope for the best. Happiest I've ever been. Crunch was terrifying on it back then when it was a SpAtk.
