Solgaleo and Lunaala obviously sound like the Sun and Moon cover legendaries.
Japanese fans are speculating that Mokuroh is the Grass starter because moku (木) is Jap for wood or tree, Ashimari is the Water stater because ashika (海驢) means sea lion, and mari (鞠) means ball (or short for marine), and that Nyabby is a cat Fire starter, presumable because nyah + tabby. Could also have bi (火) meaning fire.
Marshadow is who knows. Marshal shadow? Marsh shadow? Marshmallow shadow?
Of course, all of this is just blind speculation based on their names alone.

This is what I think. I doodled it real quick and sorry for the bad camera quality. Mokuroh is a crow that has leaves as feathers and sticks as it's tail and legs. Ashimari is simply a sea lion (I know it's kinda boring but I didn't have any ideas) and Nyabby is a mixture of Tabby Cat and Tiger. Mokuroh's last evolution is Grass/Flying,Ashimari's is Water/Ground and Nyabby's is Fire/Dark.

Arla as a name means "soars like an eagle", while Erla is Scandinavian and refers to a type of bird called a wagtail bird, which are common all over Europe and also in Japan. As for typing, I have no idea, but considering Yveltal was last gen it probably won't be dark/flying again. I think Ashimari is some kind of dark-type magical chipmunk. Here is my reasoning:
Ashi = evil
Shimari = shimarisu = chipmunk
Mari = Maryoku (written ma - riyo - ku) = magical powers
Ashi can also refer to a reed (the plant) or morning, but a reed wouldn't make any sense, as Mokuroh is most likely the grass starter, and while reeds live in water they are plants.
If Ashi means 'morning', maybe that's the theme with the starters? Ashimari is morning, Nyabbi is afternoon, and Mokuroh is night?

Given that you can see what looks like peacock tail feathers in the blurred box art in the latest corocoro and it has 'ala' in it's name then some sort of luna peacock would be logical.
That said if the sun legendary is based on a chimera, as the blurry box art and the possible lion name connection suggests, then the Moon legendary might be something else from greek mythology but just with a peacock tail stuck on it to make it look fabulous. A harpy might fit the bill.

It'd be neat if the game focuses on environmental causes and the Sun legendary is a Fire/Poison type meant to symbolize polution that leads to global warming, and the Moon legendary is a Fairy/(? Possibly Water) legendary symbolizing nature restoration/ecological goodness of some kind, with the Team's goal being to use them to either destroy the environment or restore it, depending on version, on maybe using them for the same purpose like they lazily did for Xerneas and Yveltal.
