I wouldn't mind it if they decided to get rid of the rivals in the games. They always feel so tacked on and like they're just done for tradition and we mostly battle them as an excuse to advance the story. They haven't done anything new with rivals in a while anyway.
This is unrelated to the main topic of this thread but an idea I have for something that can replace rivals is being able to play two accounts and your other account will act as the replacement for your rival. Much like how in Animal Crossing New Leaf you can visit someone else's town and their character just acts like an npc, in this idea one of your accounts can act like an npc when you're not using it. If you never make a second account maybe the storyline would be different for someone who made both accounts.

That could potentially lead to some bad stuff and level grinding and other things of that nature.
Another idea could be integrating the rival more closely with the story. Like have him be a childhood best friend who ends up joining the enemy evil team, while you are kinda shoehorned into the other team without your consent. Because when you're getting one of the two games, you're basically choosing which team you want to fight anyways so it's whatever.

Breederfags or autists who catch multiple of the same Pokemon with the same level with the same nature to compare stats need to not apply.

EVs are for having different builds so the same species can do different things.
