Just play on showdown, low ladder is pretty casual and there's plenty of different battle types to choose from.

Problem is there's nothing else to do after the game ends. I used to level my pokemon to 100 grinding at the E4 or chilling at the battle frontier. Somehow there was always some way I could squeeze more hours out on my gameboy.
