How to progress in PTCGO, tl;dr edition:
>complete all Trainer Challenges (Cheat Engine's speedhack strongly recommended to speed up AI games)

I just play with my group of friends, and because so few people go to Pokemon League on Wednesday nights where I live they just let us take one free Pokemon League card and Pokemon League energy each week.

4 Dive Balls are nice but those Ultra Balls can help you out too. Having outs to your Pokemon in a deck like this is always good. Obviously you'd run 8 Dive Balls if you could.
4 Rough Seas is a bit much, 3 is probably a safe bet.
A 2-2 Octillery line is still playable in this deck. It's one of the few decks that actually does not need Shaymin EX.

How do you guys deal with toad (without virizion)? Apparently wonder energy ,suicune, Latios' light pulse etc. don't work because item lock doesn't effect your Pokémon but the player. Only times I win is when I'm lucky enough for them to have a bad start or I out damage them. I get super pissed if they run it with malamar lasers and virbank.

My bad. I only play the online client. The times I have used vileplume weren't successful. Ran it with giratina. Had to use vileplume since I don't have any toads. Did not try it with vespiquen. Luckily ppl don't run steel too often because you would autolose against aegislash ex.

In terms of competitive viability, only Greninja and Trevenant are playable.
In terms of raw value,
Slowking, Suicune, and Aegislash are under a dollar each
Golduck, Garchomp, and Togekiss are $2 each
M Scizor, Palkia, Darkrai, Trevenant, and Gyarados FA are $7 each
M Gyarados and Greninja are $10 each
So he paid $110 for a box and got about $65 worth of cards, only two of which are competitively viable.
Not to mention he can't actually BUILD any of those decks, since you'll need multiple copies of each of those cards to put something coherent together.

Reverse Holos weigh less than Holo cards (Rares, Ultra Rares, Secret Rares).

There is a small difference in 0.X grams from a SR FA card and a common rare card. I don't know about the new packs, but old ones had easily a difference of 1 or even 2 grams, iirc, they were around 20 grams each pack.

Whenever theres a holo/FA in the pack, the code card weighs less than it would normally, as a way to balance it out.

my personal choice would be battle compressor... having stuff discarded should rarely be beneficial. there's only ever been 3 pokepowers or abilities to accelerate energy from the discard and 1 trainer that did it, but it was harder to use. There is something genuinely unsettling about how the RNG is handled in the online game. Its especially obvious in the shuffling. Everything clumps really badly. Opening hands often have a ton of duplicates of certain cards and none of others that you really need.
I wish the shuffle animation didn't look like garbage. Maybe something closer to dueling network? Or better yet crank the speed up or disable all animations on everything so games run as smooth as they did before the update. I have to use cheat engine at 2x speed otherwise the game is unbearably slow.

You can probably get two Magnezone for one pack easily enough. So four for two packs with patience. The Magnemite and Magnetons are so cheap it's hardly worth including them in your calculations.
So just put up that BKP looking for two and the AO looking for two and wait. And then put up some common stuff one on ones for the pre-evos until someone bites.

An overwhelming majority of decks run 4-8 energies. The upper limit is around 12 at most for decks with Max Elixer. There are very, very few exceptions that go outside that.
Most decks run 30-40 Trainers.

Pokemon clog. You only need so many attackers, you can't reliably set up more than 5-6 in a game.
Trainer's on the other hand, do not clog. They get you to your other Pokemon and your energy, which is why people run so few of either.
They also help advance the game state in your favor by taking pressure off of you or putting pressure on your opponent.

Theme decks are utter trash and they teach you terrible habits. And in this deck you've demonstrated nearly all of them.
1) Build your deck with Standard cards only. You will find it much more slower paced than expanded and there are 1000 cards to remember and learn to play against instead of 1000 more. Expanded can wait til you're good. So drop all the Kang, Caitlin, Cheren, Cilan
2) consistent lines. You never need a 4-3-1 Chesnaught line. or a 3-2 Simisage, outside of very specific cases. Always build your lines to be 3-3-3 or 2-2 or whatever. The same thickness.
3) Way too much energy. Look at those States winning Greninja decks someone posted. 8 energy. And that's a deck with a high turnover. ik the first thing you think when new is you never want to miss a turn of attachment but uch worse is to have a hand full of dead cards you can't play. You only need one each turn. Ten or less (including outs like Retrieval/letter etc) is usually plenty.
4) Tropius is just bad.
5) A good split is like, 6 to 20 pokes. 6 to 12 energy (&outs). The rest Trainer cards.
Try start with a base of four Ultra Balls, four VS Seeker, four Sycamore & two additional draw supporters, one Hex, one Xerosic and one Lysandre and then build up from there.
