Mechanics are very similar to MTG (some significant changes though, like champions with charge powers), but it has way more to offer (relatively speaking, set 4 is close to coming out.)
Also has PvE, which is completely free, so you can try it before jumping into competitive. Limited is about half the price of MTG too. To top it all off, it's hitting steam sometime this month, so there should be a lot of new players coming in.

It's just like anything else you have to learn. You have to know how to use different techniques, different cans and so on. I started with simply tagging my name (fun fact: my sprayer tag is absol) to get the feeling for movements and flow and it just got bigger and better with some time.
Stencils are great too because you can make them at home with "normal" equipment and then you just have to spray paint on it. It's great for spraying characters.

I play MtG, yugioh,and fow with borrowed decks since a friend of mine owns 5 or 6 of them. I also play other video games and write from time to time, but I'm a veterinary student and work part-time, so I usually don't have a lot of time left for myself.
