The problem with Pokémon fan maps is that the creators hear "world" and think "small country", so every playable region happens to be right next to every other playable region.

have you been to the battle resort in ORAS? the camera turns the whole island on a pivot. you face 'up' on the screen for each of the cardinal directions, which are never once stated in game. you're just assuming that up on the overworld is north. thats a pretty baseless headcanon
