I really liked XY, I skipped Gen IV and V actually (that's why maybe they are at low rating) and bought a 3DS just for XY, because I was very hyped, and yeah, I loved it, because it's nice as fuck.
And then comes ORAS, that is a step back, but had some new megas and mechanics and it's not bad at all to be stuck on it to play the last rules.

Honestly my only complaints about XY and ORAS is all the handholding and the small amount of new Pokemon. Other than that I think it's a fantastic generation, and even though the Dexter is small there's not one species I actively hate, they're all decent at worst

Gen III is that weird feel I have with a couple of games I played to death but can't really say I love.
It feels really different from my experience with the other gens; I remember pinching myself when I first saw Linoone because it didn't look at all like a pokémon to me and I thought I was dreaming the whole thing.
IV was a really shit gen but I can't wholly hate it because it brought so much to the franchise, mechanics wise. Also nice post game in Plat.
But you can't recover from WHAT I FEEL are terrible starters and the most forgettable region, coupled with one of the weakest original pokémon roster.

Guess I better explain myself for putting Gen V at the bottom before I start getting death threats from /vp/.
I don't hate Gen V, I actually really liked a lot of the Pokemon designs from that Gen. But this Gen really didn't make too much of an impact on me. I don't know if it was because I was just trying to graduate when they came out and didn't care much about video games at the time, or because they were 4 more game on the old DS, not sure.

V is interesting because they threw in a lot of weird ass designs and tried all sorts of strange shit- and I loved it. Gen 5 has all of my favorite and most hated Pokemon, so I can see why people either hate it or adore it. Unlike a lot of what I see here though, I prefer BW to BW2. BW2 introduced a lot of great postgame but Hugh was annoying. A real shame.
Gen 1 started it all but I never really enjoyed the Kanto region, even in GSC postgame. FRLG was boring and a really bland remake. I'd still rather play through it than gen 6, though.
Gen 6 was bad. All previous gens I could play through multiple times but when I tried to play through X again I was bored to tears.

I like the original games because they felt more RPGlike in nature. Later games just feel like pokemon games. Which isn't a bad thing mind you I just like the long dungeons and the way the first 2 games handled things.
I would say all of the games are good in their own way and worth playing though

Don't hate any reigon, I just don't have many great memories of 6 or 4.
Although that's because I stopped playing Pokemon during gen 4 and only just started getting back into with 5, which I loved, so when I played 6 I felt a little dissapointed, but it still has things I like about it. Just the reigon itself wasn't particularly memorable.
I need to play Platinum again, I'll probably really enjoy it this time.
