>they can use it to counter a major weakness in Grass types

>most Grass types can't learn Earth Power
>they could use it to counter a major weakness in Fire types

Why?
>>
gamefreak does a poor job of maintaining balance. it's pretty low on their list of priorities really.

>>

No, I hate Ice type but Gamefreak thinks it's fine enough not to nerf.
>>
>>25931042
Earth Power is only referred to as "causing the ground from beneath the foe it erupt with power."

Sure an eruption is generally tied to Fire and Ground type-wise, but if you don't take it literally it could also be interpreted as earth being "Mother Earth" which is typically related heavily to nature and plant life specifically.
>>
>>25931150
Oh, and the "eruption of power" could be the type of energy that Energy Ball is made of. Whatever the fuck that is.
>>

At least they require Sun support to use it effectively. Water types can just use Ice Beam whenever.

Honestly, I think Water needed more of a nerf than Dragon. Not that we needed a new type, but making Ice resist and giving them another weakness would have been nice.

GF jacks off to Fire types way more. Charizard this. Blaziken that.

And Blizzard gets 100% accuracy in hail.

And even without support, it can still pop out, unlike Solar Beam that needs sun support to come out immediately.

That's right, mongoloid. That OHKO can be the difference between life and death competitively.

Are you fucking retarded?
>>
>>25931904
Thematic reasons, I'd assume.
Types aside, it makes sense for a ghost--spirits that are basically the life "energy" of a dead thing-- to be able to hurl a ball of energy around.
>>
>>25931925
Except ice beam doesnt ohko either so your point is moot and retarded
>>
>>25931913
Hey, here's a cool idea for you.

give a Physical attacker pokemon a special set and see how much you win.

Spoiler Alert: you won't
>>
>>25930905
Because Ice Beam is a TM and has been since gen 1
That's it
Case closed
Everyone go home
>>
>>25931936

>>

It'll definitely OHKO more when its actually being used by a special attacker.

lol

Not every fucking pokemon can run a mixed set.

You don't see a fucking Tyrantrum or Haxorus trying to do anything with specials because the Special attack stat sucks cocks for days you fucking mong.
>>
>>25932024
show me the post where I said all pokemon can run mixed sets
>>
>>25932021
It doesn't have to be a OHKO, that's just what you brought up, but every bit of damage can make a difference.

Also,
mmm Manaphy, the picture of a Special Attacker with 100 base

Most of the grass types that CAN reliably run EQ, already have it. The rest have defenses, speed, and/or attack too low to run ghetto mixed sets or would have to sacrifice an overall more useful move for EQ coverage.
>>
>>25932052
You keep implying that any grass type can make earthquake work, but with S.As, That won't work due to their physical stat being shit.
>>

Reread my post. I never said it HAS to OHKO.

Here, I can do that here too.

I never said anything about OU. You did.

Now I'm done arguing with you, kid.

I can't believe this point got looked over.
Plus a lot of grass types can't learn earthquake either. Only 11 and almost half of those are starters.

And Hidden power sucks dick.

Every Grass-type gets Swords Dance for some fucking reason. And why the fuck do I keep getting ban when I post using my cellphone?
>>
>>25931355
Water should be weak to Poison, and not very effective against Ice.
>>
>>25932174
holy shit, you're right. grass fags btfo
>>
>>25932267
if you're using data connection then maybe your provider frequently changes ips?
>>
>>25930905

Because grass types generally have access to lots of healing and status moves. Types are not balanced solely through coverage moves.
>>
>>25930905
because move coverage isn't the sole defining factor for a elemental type in pokemon

>grass types usually can learn synthesis, or sunny day or leech seed
>can use it to stall effectively for ages

>water types at most can learn rest as recovery not mentioning aqua ring because it's garbage
>they can't stall without leftovers

ironically, there are still more meta water pokemon that can stall better than most grass types: Jellicent and Vaporeon being major players.
>>
>>25931170
>Only Charizard Y can use it
>>
>>25932227
>Forgetting the context of grass having no coverage

Hidden power sucks.
>>
>>25931983
Fire blast is stronger then earthquake
Garchomp is stronger then most grass types
A 4x fire weakness is more common then a 4x ground weakness
>>
>>25932696
That's because water only have 2 weakness and they can deal with one of them with ice move
