My memory is a little fuzzy, but I'm pretty sure I managed to solo all of Jotoh with the onix you get from a trade. Don't know how the fuck I managed that with water route and special attackers.
I don't think I've ever seen one with an offensive move. I've only seen him used in random battles on Showdown and only ever with Knock Off and U-Turn as attacks

Onix is pretty decent in-game. It has great speed for a rock type, ground typing for electric immunity and stab magnitude/earthquake, access to Screech early on to make up for its lackluster attack, and great defense. All you really need to do is keep it away from grass/water and you're good to go.

Yeah, sure, except it's SpD is as pathetic as all it's other stats bar Def, so it can't take a whole sleuth of attacks even if it resists them.
Speaking of resists, it's only ever good if dealing with things it resists, so Normal, Flying, Poison, Rock, and Fire type, specifically physical attacks. Except Fire types are normally Special attackers, and Rock types usually pack Ground moves, and the others usually have other natural coverage moves anyway.
Actually just fucking forget about tanking weaknesses even physically, because it's Hp is as shitacular as every stat bar Def. That's 6 types, by the way, a full third of the type list that Onix automatically folds to.
Because it's Atk is effectively projectile vomit as well, again since everything bar Def is barely minimum, it also has the most trouble killing anything. This makes levelling up arduous because it has to almost die every time it tries to land kills, even when taking hits, it resists, to it's strongest stat.
It's 'pretty decent' like the sun is 'pretty cold'.

I didn't even know Ledian had a special defense of 110.
Ledian is one of those Pokemon that is begging for a Mega. Basically turn it into a powerful but fast Heracross.
