How to progress in PTCGO, tl;dr edition:

It's a lot of fun, but I have a lot of bad luck with my opening hands. Sometimes the opponent gets 3-4 free draws.
How do you deal with this?
Can anyone tell me if opening the charizard EX red and blue collection box was worth it?

The only good cards that you got from it are Wally, Leafeon-EX (but only for resale value), and Raichu.
Resale-wise, Generations is just awful. The only cards worth more than 10 bucks are M Charizard-EX, Jolteon-EX, and Charizard-EX. And yes, that's taking the RH Basic Energies into account.

Okay. Let me spell it out for you since that's now become necessary.
The second your turn ends, there is absolutely nothing more you can do to influence your opponent's actions until your turn begins again. There are no counterspells, no triggered actions, nothing that can be done 'in response' to something, etc. etc. Barring direct restrictions like item lock and Hex Maniac, there is absolutely nothing stopping your opponent just taking their full turn. You sit there and wait for their turn to finish. You may have to reshuffle your hand in (Judge) discard cards (Delinquent, various cards like Enhanced Hammer) but you cannot do anything to stop this.
If your opponent wants to use Shaymin's Set Up with zero cards in hand, they are absolutely free and safe to do so because Counterspell effects like Power Spray do not exist now. They don't have to worry about Mega Evolving a Pokemon only for their Spirit Link to be discarded in response because no such thing exists.
In case I really haven't driven it home, here's how a turn goes on. Each 'okay' is you letting them know you know they've done that and you haven't lost track somehow.

a whole Sylveon EX deck won New Hampshire States Junior div. Lot's of healing & switching for more bulk than it really has. Clever little deck, I've been using it on the versus ladder and there's not much that beats it too easily, and no-ones ever ready to face fairy.

Are tradable XY packs won in tourneys worth holding onto, or just crack it for a shot at something that can be traded? It looks like no one deals in them anymore on public trade, and just won 1 of them for winning a tourney. I won't open the breakpoints atm, but not sure about the XY.

Max elixir benefits from as many basic energies as possible though. Plus fairy garden and aromatisse and the Sylveon attack you'll be using over and over all lose synergy if you introduce DCE.
As for Jirachi, Aegislash-EX can serve a similar function but its really not ideal. Nightmarch/Toad/Dragons will give you more trouble

Reshiram/Giratina EX is a decent deck and it plays 2.

It's a semi-staple in Dragon decks that need it.
Problem is, there aren't any good Dragon decks right now. Some decks run Tyrantrum or Giratina, and M Fug decks use the Dragon non-mega to dodge weakness, but none of those decks have been performing well. And if a new Dragon gets printed, there's no guarantee that it'll need free retreat. So there's a reason it's only $3.
On the other hand, M Garchomp is about to come out, we still haven't gotten M Salamence or M Latias, and there's a chance M Ampharos and M Sceptile might get a reprint with the correct typing.

As someone who has gone through 50+ Jolteon, I've been selling them for 20-30 RS each easily. If you can find one for 20 or less, you should take that instantly because you can spin it for 10 packs profit easily.
Its value probably won't go down now that the Charizard box has come out. If anything, Glaceon showing up will push the price up a bit, but I doubt it'll ever go for more than 30.

So I was about to start building this deck, buuuuuuut then I realized I have no idea what to put in it or if it could even be usable.

Either run it with Plasma Chandelure to accelerate energies and put damage counters down, or just run it with Emboar and play it like Blastoise/Kyurem with Beaches.
Except, it turns out Outrage Reshiram is a better partner for either of those accelerators, especially since Dragon typing is pretty shit.

Well, yeah, but you're still getting more boxes than you would have before. unless you were playing a huge number of games a day or something.
For players that only play 15 or less a day this is a huge boon.
I for one have been getting tokens at an extremely faster rate.

Just look up Blastoise/Keldeo.
Replace Blastoise with Emboar.
Replace Keldeo/Black Kyurem with Reshiram/White Kyurem (but obvs keep Keldeo)

I recently got a job where they sell some packs of pokemon card booster packs for dirt cheap prices even without my discount.
They only really sell "BREAKPOINT" booster packs, a few tins with hoopa and rayquaza on, etc. Its been a while since I played the TCG, is anything valuable in these packs?

If these are the ones with the promo EXs on the top, get the Hoopa one just for Hoopa. They also come with 2 Ancient Origins, 1 Roaring Skies and 1 Primal Clash I think so that's alright.

I was at the league at the local LGS on Sunday. They had 12 Roaring Skies packs left in a box and the owner told me no one had pulled anything good from them yet. I buy my boxes from them and sometimes buy packs as well. I trust them to not rip me off with weighed packs because I have been going there for a decade, am a friend with most of them outside of the LGS, and the main reason is they don't sell singles. I bought all 12 packs and got pic related. I've had plenty of good pulls before but I think this was the best I've ever had in that small a number of packs. It was a good day.

I REALLY want to pull the jungko full art by myself, even if I need to buy all the other cards I'm missing. I just don't have any luck lately with AO, sadly. Breakpoint has been way nicer to me, though, I was ecstatic when I pulled the fucking Ho-Oh, since it's the card I wanted the most in the collection. So far I've opened 22 packs of breakpoint and I've pulled 8 ultra or better, which is insane (though I've got a bent Greninja break directly in the pack, which is pretty damn frustrating).

While I cannot help you much, I do feel like the prices of french cards tend to be higher than English ones, yes, at least for the current XY ultra rare cards.
I also opened one pack of primal clash in my machamp tin (which is weird since every power trio tin I've seen contained only breakpoint) and got this... and I'm kind of sad I didn't pull that sweet sweet ancient trait holo Swampert, though I can't say I don't like that Kyogre.

If you really want boosters rather than buying singles, then Roaring Skies are best packs for money cause of that chance of pulling Shaymin. If you buy individual booster packs from big stores like Toys R Us, Wal-Mart, Target, etc or from a LGS that sells singles there is a pretty good chance packs have been weighed and your chance of getting good pulls is reduced. Whatever you buy I hope you get some awesome stuff though.

Yea, with single booster packs people can literally weigh the packs on a digital scale (there are accurate, small ones that can fit in your pocket) and super rares and full arts weigh more. So people can fairly accurately go into a Walmart weigh the packs and buy the ones that are heaviest to more reliably get good pulls and leave bad pulls in the store.
There is a Roaring Skies Booster box, but they just recently stopped printing them so their price is rising and will probably need to order them online or through a LGS that has good distributor connections.
