I think he has a pretty good setup but gets dropped fast and isn't strong against much, but I've had him since he was a babby Shinx and is kind of a bro so I'm going to keep him on until the hall of fame
I played through RBYGS as a kid and after 15 years decided to give the newer Pokemons a go due to someone stoking my nostalgia. I've played through SS, Ruby and Platinum and honestly this is by far my favorite game. Sinnoh is beautiful and comfy, the music is good and it's a good step up in challenge from Ruby. I'm ~35 hours in and I feel I've rushed it and am kinda sad for it to be over but I'm looking forward to trying Gen 5. /blogpost

I played DP back when it first came out, but just picked up a copy of Platinum the other day. I'm trying to enjoy Sinnoh more than I did when I first played it, and doing things like the Underground is really helping me appreciate it. I'm close to 7 hours in and just beat Gardenia using Pokemon I've seldom used before.
I remember starting with Turtwig, catching a Starly, then 2 Machop's, keeping 1 and trading the other for Abra in the first gym zone, then eventually getting rid of Machoke for something else down the road.
I really don't remember what the other Pokemon were though. This was my first playthrough at like 12-13 years old though.

The relationship of the two is used in calculation what PID (personality ID) range of pokemon results in a shiny
Cute charm forces the wild pokemon to be the opposite gender of the cute charmer, and does so by setting a static PID of 0 on the wild pokemon, rather than rolling a random female one.
This PID is then incremented by 1-25, depending on nature.
This means you can modify your TID and SID to behave in a certain way as to make pokemon in those ranges shiny.
The best odds you can get this way are 8/25, but this only happens if the 2/3 chance of cute charm kicking works.
So in total its about a 21% percent change of wild shinies throughout the entire game (as long as you keep the cute charmer as the lead)

I'm glad this thread is still going. So I said in a later post that I finished up E4. Garchomp honestly trivialized it so I'm probably going to bench him him for the rematch. Luxray is staying benched and I'm thinking about benching Infernape because he's a glass cannon that spends a bit too much time dead. Gastrodon is the broest of bros so I'm keeping him on board, and Rosi is my flower waifu so I'm keeping her on board though I may tweak her moveset a bit. She has Absorb, Petal Dance, Sludge Bomb and Leech Life and wrecks Dragonite-style if I can get her set up but otherwise goes down pretty fast to ice and fire which is quite common in the late/post-game.
Overall I love this game. It's the second gen 4 game I've played (Soul Silver is the other one, will probably start a fresh Heart Gold run after I finish Black and Black 2). The music is great, Sinnoh is great and it's the first Pokemon game I've played that captures that feeling of wonder I felt when I played RB and GS for the first time. Also there's a ton of content, I've always been kinda put off by what Nintendo charges for these games and what they go for second hand, but I honestly feel it's worth it.

Sinnoh was a great region. It gave you the feeling of exploration since there were so much shit and little places to find and at the same time the whole region had this eerie, creepy atmosphere to it, which was extremely fitting. Everything from foggy snowy areas to the music to the pokemon itself with Dialga, Palkia and Giratina reminding me of Eldritch abominations. The whole game is just amazing.
