What are your thoughts of NFE Pokemon getting mega forms?

Ability - Mother's Spirit
Every other turn this Pokemon can not attack but it also can not be attacked (gets a forced protect basically)
Basically, nothing too much of a design change except for a ghost-like essence coming from it's mother's skull that it wears. That will be what protects it every other turn.
It can still use moves on turns that it can't attack, such as focus energy and all. Might actually put skull bash to some use for it.
Thoughts?

I mean you could protect, set up toxic and then stall til death or if its facing a poison or steel type then it can just set up belly drum+sitrus berry and wreck shop.
Sounds pretty broken/people would be forced to run counters against it.

Well let's say if protect was used then the mega ability wouldn't be used. Also, it's stats are still pretty shitty, especially without it holding thick club due to it holding a mega stone instead. Same rebuttal for belly drum + sitrus berry. Can't hold 2 items.

Here's the thing, you could alternate between protecting and not protecting. You only have to toxic once, and then it doesn't matter what the opponent does, you get a guaranteed protect every turn
