Because Kanto is the dullest region. It was good for being the first, but literally every other region is so much better. RBY/FRLG were the weakest in the series, they're only good for nostalgia at this point.
Unless they rework the region into a larger, more vibrant, diverse landscape, Kanto will fall flat.

Gen 3 had Kanto in it
Gen 4 had Kanto in it
Gen 5 didn't have Kanto in it
Gen 6 didn't have Kanto in it, but R/B/Y were released on virtual console
Gen 7 connects with Kanto to trade up pokemon.
Kanto is involved with almost all the gens. This is why another remake isn't needed. I love FR/LG, but it's just not needed.
I don't even know WHY you would want a FR/LG remake, considering how fucked ORAS was.

It's just fucking lazy. We all know it wouldn't be anything impressive to remake Kanto AGAIN. HOWEVER I could get a behind a remake for NX or whatever, like they start re-making really older games like Gen 1 for home consoles. At least with that, there's some novelty to it. Everyone wants to see a beautiful console version of Kanto. It won't affect mainline sales as its like 6 gens away and usually they try to pump out 2 regions a gen so you'd never catch up anyways.
I hope Gen4 has a remake to fully fix it.
I also want Gen5 to have one because it was my favorite, but I wonder how it'd go. B/W remake? B2/W2 remake? Grey/Grey2 released? The sequel games are kind of odd.
