The ninth planet thing is still only a theory, which is in fact quite plausible. However, everything else is shitpost.
And yet people still defend GameFreak. The fanbase has really sunken to the deep end recently. They refuse to accept that the devs are literally cutting out content for the most ridiculous reasons? Well then, I guess the future of the franchise appears bleak at best.

WFC getting shut down wasn't intentional by Game Freak though, the servers were owned by a third party that fucked Nintendo over, and both of the consoles were succeeded so Nintendo just cut the ties.
