Quick question, I started EV training in FR just to see what is it like. From what I've read, the maximum EV per stat is 255, right? Up to a maximum of 510 across everything... When do I start to see any difference? I'm keeping tabs trough PP usage, am I doing it right?

What are you talking about? There is almost never a situation when you want less then perfect IV's. The only exceptions are the very few times you want bad Attack for the few Foul Play users, or having bad speed for Trick Room users.
Even then there are only a handful of pokemon who will actually use Foul Play, and Trick Room still has no item to extend its time on the field, or a pokemon to set it up via switch in.
Outside of that IV's really dont have any effect in a normal battle, because no one in their right mind would bring a bad IV'd pokemon to something they actually want to win. They are essentially just an extra pointless step to extend the length of time breeding for a pokemon you like.

Horde training is faster. Especially if you're going to EV train multiple pokémon in the same stat, just put on the exp share. Every pokémon get 50 EV's per battle, assuming you have taken the required steps beforehand (power items, pokerus and having a sweet scenter).

Well yes, that's why smogon has different tiers.
Everything in RU is good for RU, same with UU, NU, etc. But generally when you go into the next tier they get outclassed
