I got even more depressed than usual 2 years ago when my gf of 6 years left me. This was one of 3/4 songs I listened on repeat, I cried a lot. It reminds me of a free of worries past, the love we had, childhood nostalgia, and The way this girl plays it is is just so... Sad and melancholic, I don't know, it just hits me really hard, I know it's stupid.

I hid my depression for years (still going strong). My parents got separated during the winter and I was being a shitty company, letting my bad mood take over me and being extra obnoxious. Then my mother had surgery and stayed at my older brother's house recovering while I stayed at my father's house (ours was under some work as my mother wanted to "start anew"). My father's house is luxurious but my father was never home, banging bitches I guess, I locked myself in my room so the maid couldn't get in, didn't wake until 5/6pm so I was skipping classes and not even trying to hide it, even stopped lifting and lost some kgs which didn't help.
My gf wanted to cheer me up so she did something I always told her I'd hate but she felt it could help me feel better: she organized a surprise birthday party.
I found out after accidentally seeing her name in my friend's facebook list of online friends and I got angry as hell (nothing to do with being cheated on), they never met but were organizing my birthday party, but I have very few friends and I hate being the center of attention and having people realize I have very few friends so I don't even mix family/college/hs friends;..... So I made them cancel everything, I wasn't ready for that, they were going to call guys I barely spoke to just to fill a table, and Even with other so called "friends" i don't really connect so I didn't want that party.
I yelled at her and made her cry over that, she said she just wanted to see me happy, a week later at my birthday dinner (family+gf) we were kind of alright... My mom bought me a 3ds and Pokemon X because my gf told her I wanted it, I cringe when I remember mt sister's face when she saw I got a Pokemon game for my fucking 22nd birthday.
Our relationship got colder, the bond got broken and I could feel us drifting away, I got back home with my mom but my gf was really cold and avoidant. I knew the end was coming. She came to see me, we were just lying in my bed... (1/2)

It was such a long relationship, it was weird how I knew such an important part of both our lives was gonna end there, it seemed unbreakable before, but there we couldn't even make small talk, I was literally just staring at the ceiling until she started crying, and then I wish I could tell you she was the loch ness monster but this is no meme story, she told me she didn't love me like she used to, she didn't like me like she used to, and we broke up, she was crying profusely and I was completely numb which made her sadder because she thought she wasn't important to me, which was not true even though I also felt the magic between us was lost; I didn't react because I was (and I am)a broken person, she left and I kept quiet, ate dinner and went to sleep. Inext day I avoided my younger brother and my mom as I had a huge knoy in my throat but by the end of the day I couldn't take it anymore and I cried like a baby when I told my mom the news, atleast I felt human.
Listened to that song a lot over the following weeks, and to one other song which helped me deal with suicidal thoughts.

Thanks man, but there's no need for the "there's plenty more fish in the sea" advice. I'm way over her, my problems are way deeper. The worst part was losing the girlFRIEND not the GIRLfriend. I fell in to depression when I entered college, 7 years ago. I half assed (more like Tenth assed) my way through the first couple years in engineering, made 3 friends, they finished and went on with their lives, only one remains in the same city, my only friend now. I seldom go have coffee with my now ex-gf and common hs friends but I can't make a connection with them ("how can we relate when we don't know a thing about each other anymore").
I'm 24yo, yet to finish my 5year engineering degree (been there 7 years now), never worked, don't attend classes because I'm scared of acually finishing it. I'm a parasite. I'm not technically a NEET but my life consists of shitposting; sleeping; playing shit old games and going to the gym. I have (had) everything to succeed in life if not for the crippling social anxiety.
Anyway, It's almost 8AM, I'll try and get some sleep. I accept your happy trubbish

I was in an abusive relationship (not a romantic one) for over a year, and it fucked me up bad. I've always had bad anxiety but this made it worse. Then two people I know died in the same week. I almost had to drop out of school, and I've basically been taking one class at a time the past 2 years. I'm 25 and still in undergrad. I'm actually in the last class I have to take, but I still have to write and submit my thesis paper.
I'm basically a NEET, I've had to quit every job I've ever had after a month because of anxiety, I live with my parents, I'm too depressed to do anything, I've gained a shit ton of weight from stress eating and drinking, I have pretty much no energy so working out is really hard for me, I haven't had sex in almost 5 years and I've never been in a serious relationship... I'm hoping I'm not stuck here forever but things seem pretty hopeless...
